OUR PLANET
Available now on Netflix.
This month, in place of upcoming films, I wanted to discuss a new documentary series I truly believe everyone should watch. As he did with Planet Earth and Blue Planet, Sir David Attenbourgh narrates another astonishing series, bringing the wonders of the natural world in to our homes, and highlighting the peril it faces today.
Speaking at the premiere, Sir David Attenbourgh said: “The eight part Our Planet series aims to reach a billion people around the world. It celebrates the species and habitats which still remain and reveals what must be protected to ensure both people and nature thrive. I’ve always believed that few people will protect the natural world if they don’t first love and understand it. Many sequences in the series reveal nature at its most fascinating and delightful. But what really makes Our Planet stand out, is the clear, driving story that runs through the entre series, and the wider communications project. The natural world is not just nice to have, it fundamentally matters to each and every one of us. This has been a true labour of love for hundreds of filmmakers, cinematographers, conservationists and production teams; all of whom have brought their best work to the most important story there is – a story that could not be more universal or more timely. The ability to tell that story to almost every country on earth, at the same time, via Netflix, brings the possibility of an unprecedented global understanding of the one place that we all call home”.
Everyone must do their part to work towards saving the planet, and the time to act is now. This series is sure to inspire you. As Sir David said, once you love and understand the natural world, you’ll have a desire to save it! If you don’t have a Netflix account, borrow a friend’s login details or sign up for a month’s free trial just to watch this!
